Adesh Jain, President of PMA did his Bachelor of Engineering with distinction from Indian Institute of Science Bangalore, and Master's in Engineering in 1967 from N. America. He is the first Asian to have received a Masters Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University, USA.

While working with Litton Industries (1967-70), Mr. Jain applied project management techniques to the Department of Defence, USA's, funded programme on Pattern Recognition. In Control Data (71-72) he used project management methodology to evaluate super computers.

On his return to India in 1973, being considered one of the foremost IT gurus, Mr. Jain worked at a senior level of management with SAIL and was the first person in India to facilitate Process Control automation. In 1975 he joined Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) - India's premier heavy engineering company and was the founding father of BHEL's Integrated Project Management Systems (IPMS). In 1978, Mr. Jain became the youngest CEO of one of the divisions of BHEL and in 1982 he had the distinction of becoming the Chairman of HECG comprising of 22 PSU's. Over the years he has gained vast industrial experience and been associated with over 200 companies in India and abroad in providing world class knowledge inputs.

Mr. Jain is a well recognized, visible and influential member of the global PM movement. He was elected as the Chairman, CoD of the International Project Management Association (IPMA), Switzerland for the term January 2007 - December 2008 and is the first non-European to have this prestigious honour. He was also the first non-European to become a Board Member and President of IPMA which today comprises of 44 National PM Associations.

At a national level, Mr. Jain is promoting project management with missionary zeal and is the President of Project Management Associates (PMA), India's national PM association.

Mr. Jain's concepts of 'JIPI', 'Nucleus of a Task' and '6 Levels of Project Management Maturity' have caught worldwide attention. He has authored more than 50 papers and compiled a book, "New Dimensions in Management", which has 22 major Indian case studies. In view of Mr. Jain's commitment to Project Management and Information Technology he was invited by USIS to participate in their live Worldnet Dialogues on "Human Resource Development", "Trends in Project Management" and on "Risk-taking Management".

Mr. Jain has presented many papers at international conferences and is a most sought after keynote speaker internationally. He has been invited to give keynote presentations in important global PM meets covering Japan, Korea, China, Malaysia, Australia, India, Middle East, Berlin, Ireland, Budapest, Russia etc. as well as companies like Ericsson, ABB & Motorola.

Mr. Jain, is an outstanding Consultant & Trainer in providing integrated approach in managing projects. His consulting work in developing project management related processes for Indian Oil Corporation, India was the first of its kind and is considered to be the hallmark for Indian PM movement.

In recognition of his contribution in the field of project management, Mr. Jain received the prestigious "1997 Distinguished Contribution Award" from PMI. He was also conferred with the "Davidson Frame Award for Excellence" in strengthening the project management profession in the Asia-pacific region .
