Q: What is IPMA Level D?

A: IPMA has developed the 4 level Project Management Certification on the basis of the IPMA Competence Baseline (ICB), which is the basis for certification across all the IPMA national association members.

Q: How to register for the IPMA Level D Certification test?

A: Visit the PMA website www.pma-india.org and download the three forms i.e Application Form, Experience Verification Information (EVI) & Code of Professional Conduct. Send the completed forms along with your resume; one color photograph and the requisite fees to PMA office at Noida for registration.

Q : How to prepare for the IPMA Level D certification?

A: On your registration, PMA will give you a set of the syllabus, sample questions, the National Competence Baseline (NCB) CD on which the Level D exam is based and some more reference material free of cost for you to start your preparation. Then you can prepare in four ways.

Mode-1: Only self study as per syllabus from the material supplied plus various reference books mentioned.

Mode-2: Self study plus you can register for an e-Learning course through our Accredited Training Organization (ATO). For more information, email to: info@cepm.com

Mode-3: Self study plus you can register for three-day classroom training programmes organized by our ATO, CEPM (P) Ltd at New Delhi. Classroom training can also be organized at other locations subject to a minimum number of 20 participants. In-company training programmes can also be conducted by the ATO.

Mode-4: Self study plus register for e-Learning as well as the three-day classroom training.

Q: Why are companies like L&T, Thermax, NTPC, ONGC, Siemens, IRCON International, Churchill India etc. for IPMA Level D certification in a big way?

A: Globally as the competition is increasing, the importance of risk management, quality and deadlines is increasing day by day. By giving work to a company with trained and certified professionals, global companies are assured of better work at less risk. Hence companies having trained and PM certified professionals would have an edge at the time of bidding and execution. To quote, one of the telecom companies have written a letter to PMA “Many of the countries are making Certified Project Management Professionals as an essential requirement to compete & execute projects. We do not have certified project management professionals”.

Q: Is IPMA Level D recognized in India & other countries?

A: IPMA Level D certificate is promoted by IPMA and is adopted by the national project management association of 40 countries, that are members of IPMA from Europe, Asia, Africa, USA & South America. It is well recognized globally. In India also, many corporations from public and private sectors have recognized it and are advocating it for their employees. Companies like L&T, L&T Infotech, ONGC, NTPC, Thermax have decided to have their project managers certified at various levels of IPMA 4 Level Certification.

Q: I have been managing projects for the last 10 or more years with success. Do I really need to get certified?

A: The IPMA Level D designation following your name demonstrates to current and potential employers that you possess a solid foundation of experience and education in project management that can have a positive impact on bottom-line results as well as that you are familiar with a commonly understood terminology. Q: What are the advantages of PMA corporate membership for my company?

A: It is absolutely in the interest of your company to join PMA as a Corporate Life/Annual member. All Corporate members can nominate 10 representatives to be on the mailing list of PMA who will receive the literature/articles from PMA regularly. Besides this all the staff of the company are eligible for the membership discount in programmes of PMA including IPMA Level D examination fee.
